While the water is boiling, cut a lemon into slices or wedges and remove the seeds.I typically use about ¼ to ½ of a lemon per 16 oz. However, you can use more or less to your taste, or adjust the amount depending on the size of the lemon.
If you prefer a strong lemon flavour, squeeze the juice of a lemon wedge into your mug and add the rind or sliced rounds for more flavour, digestive benefits and vitamin C.If you prefer a milder flavour, simply place sliced lemon rounds into your mug.Once you’ve added the lemon, pour in the boiled water. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before sipping. You can remove the lemon rinds once you’re satisfied with the strength. If left too long, the rinds can create a bitter taste. However, if you will be drinking your lemon water quickly, leaving the rind in adds more nutritional value and digestive benefits.
Notes
Add raw honey for a little natural sweetness. I tend to find ½ teaspoon is enough. However, you can add it to taste.Use organic lemons to reduce exposure to toxins. Lemons are often waxed, so organic is the best choice, especially when using the rind.
