This refreshing Blueberry Lemon Infused Water is a delicious way to stay hydrated on hot summer days! With a perfect blend of sweet, tart and citrusy, this fruit-infused water offers a burst of flavour and plenty of nutritional benefits.
Pour the blueberries into a pitcher, glass or jar. Use a pestle or wooden spoon to gently crush them, releasing their juices. If you prefer a milder flavour, you can skip the crushing.
Next, cut half of the lemon into slices and squeeze the juice from the remaining half into the pitcher, glass or jar. Place the lemon slices around the edges, leaving a few for garnishing. If you are adding ice, place the ice cubes in the middle of the lemon slices. Then, pour in the filtered water. Add a sprig of your choice of herb (if desired). I like using either lemon balm, mint, lavender, or rosemary.
Allow the water to infuse for a minimum of 2 - 5 minutes. If drinking or serving immediatly, you can leave the fruit in as you sip. However, if you will be storing it for later, seal with a lid and keep it refrigerated. You can let the fruit infuse for 1 - 3 hours in the fridge before it will need to be strained. If you will be storing the infused water for longer than 3 hours, strain out the fruit and place the water back in the fridge in a well-sealed jar, bottle or pitcher.
Pour the infused water over ice and garnish with extra blueberries, a slice of lemon and optional herbs like mint or lemon balm.
